Denver Law has been an innovator in legal education since it opened its doors over 130 years ago. We are a pioneer in experiential learning, opening the first legal aid clinic in the nation in 1904. Today, our focus continues to be on providing our students with the practical knowledge and skills to succeed in today's, and tomorrow's, legal market.
Our nationally recognized programs offer students practical skills that make an immediate and valuable impact. We have three specialty programs ranked in the Top 20 by U.S. News & World Report including #5 Clinical Training, #8 Trial Advocacy & #20 Legal Writing. The Sturm College of Law also has earned an A+ for Practical Training by preLaw magazine for the fifth consecutive year.

Practice-Ready Graduates
Denver Law’s curriculum is innovative and global in its perspective. Courses are taught by some of the finest faculty in the nation in the first LEED-certified Gold law building in the U.S. Our curriculum combines live-client clinics, high-quality externships (one of the largest programs in the nation, placing around 500 students a year) and legal simulation courses to provide a wide range of practice-based learning skills.
We also offer substantive law courses and numerous unique writing courses that teach students how to draft pre-trial motions, as well as negotiate and draft agreements, and much more. In addition, Denver Law students can distinguish themselves by earning a certificate in one of seven specialty areas of the law, demonstrating legal subject mastery for prospective employers.
My externship through Denver Law allowed me to have direct client interaction, which was a great experience. I learned not only client skills, but it let me follow my true passion of helping those in need.
